In this fable, the little purple bee launches from her hive and goes on an extraordinary journey that requires tenacity and trust to untangle her path to the foraging patch.
illustrated book for sale Initially a video, the fable is an art-based outcome that uses allegory, metaphor and imagery about what I identified as the "professional developmental crisis." I hope that it offers rich discussion points about the journey to becoming a credentialed art therapist -- all of the information is research-based. I studied the experiences of successful, fully credentialed professional art therapists. |
Data analysis and outcomesThe home page contains a link to the final video, the arts-based outcome of this qualitative research study. The purpose of the study was to investigate the experiences of professional art therapists who journeyed from graduating art therapy training to earning their professional ATR-BC credentials. The Research Methodologies page houses more information about how I did this.
The Participant Artworks page is filled with participants' art images. I included comments and descriptions that each participant shared about her work and my observations of details and themes across cases. This is the artwork to which I referred when I created the story and scenes in the video. Story Elements is a page that has information about the five key elements of the arts-based video, part of the data analysis. Plot, characters, themes, conflict and setting are explored and offer starting points for discussion about the journey to becoming a credentialed art therapist. Here, direct quotations from participants about important topics the video raised are included in red. These participant' comments and responses about the elements of the story reinforce emotional and relatable characteristics of the story and connects the raw data to the final outcome (the video). |
